NORTHFIELD CHURCH

To Bootle and Beyond

I started going to Northfield when I was 4 and it was there I became involved with Merseyside Christian Youth Camps (MCYC) in Wales. I first went to MCYC at the age of 11. I attended junior week for the first time and it was there I gave my life to Jesus. On the last night, the padre spoke about how he had given his life to Jesus. He told us that God loved us no matter what we had done. His talk was powerful and made me realise that the things I had done in the past did not make me an unlovable person. I began to understand that everyone is guilty of sin. The padre asked us if we wanted to say sorry for the things we had done wrong and whether we would like to give our lives to Jesus. I went forward and received prayer. Whilst being prayed for I burst into tears and felt God’s presence in my life. I have attended camp many times and I can really feel God’s presence when I am there. To me, MCYC is a very special place and I am lucky to have met some great friends and heard many talks on how God has changed lives.

Three years after I gave my life to Jesus, I was baptised. Baptism made me really happy and I felt like a different person afterwards. I left my old ways behind and began my walk with Jesus.

Over the years I feel God has called me to different things. I help at Northfield’s children’s club, Shine, on a Monday night and enjoy helping children learn about a God who loves them. Since the age of sixteen I have attended MCYC as a leader. Here I help with different children’s activities and go on day trips with the children. I believe God has called me to this work and I thoroughly enjoy it.

Life as a Christian is not easy but I know that when I get things wrong, I am still loved. Because God loves me no matter what.
