Shine – So Far………
We spent about a year praying and listening to God about how else we could reach the children in the community. In June last year we became very excited about getting something started and felt that God was saying He didn’t want crazy new ideas, but just for us to open our doors and give the children what they need, fun, entertainment, acceptance and most importantly His love.
We began this venture with a fair amount of meeting and planning and decided to start with a bang – this being the Fun Day we had on the Saturday before we launched the Kids Monday Night Club. Our Fun Day was a huge success (much to my relief!!!), we had refreshments, games, crafts, a bouncy castle, DJ-ing, and even ‘Soak the Pastor’! Approximately 80 children from the community came through our doors within the three hours that we were open! This compounded our belief that there is a definitely a need in the community.
Two days later on the Monday night we launched our kids club, we were so pleased with the 23 children that showed up and loved every minute of the dancing, games, craft, God Spot and juice and biscuits! We’ve since had a few more weeks of the club and numbers have improved. We’ve been learning new songs and have been working our way through well-known bible stories, such as, Noah’s Ark and David and Goliath.
We really appreciate the prayers and support that we have had and ask that you continue to bless us and the children of the community. We believe that we have patiently waited, and that things are happening in God’s time. God has done amazing things already in these few months and I believe that there is a lot more to come.
We as a Children’s Team have only just begun this journey, but we are looking forward to enjoying the ride. Please pray for us as we continue to seek God’s vision for the children of Bootle.
