Children’s Work – So Far………
Our children’s work at Northfield Church currently comprises of the crèche on a Sunday morning and the children’s card making club on a Tuesday evening.
Crèche is run by a number of committed church members and currently there are approximately 6 children that attend each Sunday morning.
Children’s card making is run by 5 enthusiastic crafters each Tuesday evening for 6 weeks, with 2 weeks off in between each block of 6. It runs from 6pm until 7pm. We get approximately 8 children each Tuesday, but the children vary, and we currently reach about 18 children. Who would have thought that boys aged between 5 and 10 would be so keen to become crafters and spend their Tuesday evenings making cards?!
Louise and I have met a few times to discuss the future of the children’s work at Northfield. We have a few ideas, but are currently still researching other children’s work within the area and recruiting a team of volunteers and ‘pray-ers’, as we won’t get anywhere successfully without prayer and without people willing to give their time and gifts.
Louise and I will be working closely with the ‘Youth Team’, or Ali and Neil as they’re better known! We have met together and led a prayer meeting based around children’s and youth work. It was highlighted in this prayer meeting that we are currently reaching approximately 24 children within the area, I think this is a pretty good start. Please pray for these 24 children, that they will continue building relationships with us and that they will want to learn more about God and His love for us.
We as a Children’s Team have only just begun this journey, but we are looking forward to enjoying the ride. Please pray for us as we continue to seek God’s vision for the children of Bootle.
